GRAY WINS PLAYOFF FOR UK GOLDEN TICKET
Steve Gray travelled for 3 hours from his home club, Formby Hall in Lancashire to compete in The Invitational UK Qualifier at Heythrop Park Resort in Oxfordshire to compete for the unique opportunity to win the Golden Ticket to play in The Invitational 2011. Gray was out in 1 under par (34) but 2 shots behind playing partner Jim Wheat on 3 under (32) along with early starter Donald McLeod with Ed Kelly on 2 under (33). Whilst Gray had a much better back nine than Wheat to finish on 2 under (nett 70) Kelly was 4 under playing 17 but stumbled and made a double bogey 6 to finish on 70 also after making par at the last. However Peter Brady who played the front nine in level had a very solid back nine to finish 2 under and join Gray and Kelly with a tie for the lead.
A sudden death play took place on the 18th with Gray winning the first extra hole to take the grand prize of the Golden Ticket.
